Di is not only the manager of The Avalon Rooms, she’s also Flik’s mum. Over the span of her illustrious career she has been a company secretary, a British and World Olympic weightlifting champion, an executive assistant to the CEO of a national mental health support organisation and a handy woman (unconventional leaps of faith run in the family). Having decided to hang up her paintbrush after completing the refurbishment of the Avalon Rooms with her partner, Flik’s stepdad Jon, she now comes to work alongside Flik and the rest of the team as a vital, efficient and detail observant lynchpin that keeps the whole business working like a well lavender oiled machine. She also stops Flik working herself into the ground and makes sure everyone gets their breaks (because, you know, we’re prolific for fitting in just one more client!). When she’s not at The Avalon Rooms she can be found at home with Jon and their puppy Gracie watching the Formula 1, out with friends, sewing or up at Flik’s home inwardly despairing of her eclectic design tastes and proclivity for hoarding craft projects, while outwardly smiling.
